The months of November and December have been busy for the FCCLA members. In November, we held a Veteran’s Day Breakfast organized by junior FCCLA member Andrea Becker. This gave the veterans a chance to sit down and enjoy a hot breakfast consisting of casserole, rolls, biscuits and gravy, juice, fruit and coffee. While serving, many FCCLA members enjoyed conversations with the veterans.
This December has been busy for students in preparation for semester tests. The Winter Formal Committee, lead by chapter officer Sirena Lindsay, planned the dance, “Winter Nights - Golden Lights,” that was on Saturday, December 18. Prior to the dance, FCCLA held a winter essentials and toy drive for homeless children in Iowa. Students brought in items and raised nearly 300 items. The dance was a nice break from all the studying. Members have also been working on their STAR events for the January 25 district competition. Peer Education team members are completing their second projects. A couple of the projects included a Facebook-based family function campaign and distribution of financial facts for teens fliers. The famous Friday morning breakfast continues to be successful this year with the newly redeveloped food items to meet the Healthy Kids Act requirements.
