The Gilbert FCCLA Chapter had great success at the State Leadership Conference. Some major highlights of the conference are listed below.:
Middle School FCCLA members recently raised $102.50, which was donated to the Children's Miracle Network, by having a potato decorating contest. Students paid $1 to enter the contest and the winning potato was selected by students through a penny war. Olivia Hampton, raising a total of $23, won the contest and was rewarded by the opportunity to smash mashed potatoes in Mr. Franzen's face during the MS talent show. Thanks to all who generously donated and a big thank you to Mr. Franzen for being such a good sport! In addition, two middle school members recently participated in the State FCCLA STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events competition held in Des Moines during the State Leadership Conference. Katie Thomas, National Programs in Action, received a silver medal and Austin Graber, Food Innovations, received gold and the opportunity to attend the national competition.
