Six GHS FCCLA members took part in the 2010 Iowa FCCLA Fall Leadership Rally at the DMACC Campus in Ankeny. Nationallyrenowned speakers lead a day of intensive leadership training that included professionalism, networking and FCCLA promotion and advocacy. Participants included Puneet Anantharam, Cole Buchman, Patrick Clancy, Maia Davis, Sirena Lindsay and state officer RJ Vannoy.
Veterans of the Gilbert Community are invited to a Veterans Appreciation Breakfast on November 13 from 7:00-9:00 in the FCS Room (102) at GHS. FCCLA members will prepare a delicious breakfast free of charge to all of those who have served in the armed services or are currently on active duty, in the guard or on reserve status. Financial Fitness Peer Education team members Patrick Clancy, Kendra Swanson and Ryan Gallus participated in the second session of their investment challenge via the ICN. Each student learned about stock investments from investment author Joanne Kuster and selected a stock to track for the coming months. Each team member will use their knowledge to complete a project to educate others about investing.
Violence and bullying has recently been making headlines across the country. In response to this concern, chapter president RJ Vannoy has initiated a STOP the Violence project. RJ has sent letters to local businesses requesting donations for the anti-bullying group R5 to present to Gilbert students.
